Opening Day 2008. It was a memorable one despite the weather. Raining on and off all day didn't ruin my day though. I had a great time. Only a few rides were closed. Hydroblaster, Mad Mouse (Although I received reports that it was open for a brief period of time), Looping Starship, and a bunch of kiddie rides excluding Kidworks. Now, the new things in the park were very noticeable, and none of them are negative, or even bad to the park in any way! Here's the list.
-New bright neon green ATM's that look great!
-New 3 point shootout over by High Roller.
-No Xtreme Trampolines at the park anymore.
-Skyscraper is gone, yet they still haven't removed all of its foundation, sign, and a couple other things
-A couple new signs on a couple of the restaurants/food places in the park.
-I looked around the park, but didn't notice any energy drink vending machines.
-No new construction that I saw on the new haunt behind/beside Mad Mouse.
-A bunch of awesome new prize options in the games area.
-A new game called 21 that includes trying to throw a poker chip onto an array of two cards to try to get 21.
If you saw any that I missed, feel free to comment! We'll keep you updated through-out the whole season on any/all updates!

Opening Day Update!
CarnEvil Takes The Poll!

CarnEvil took the poll as the best Haunted House for the 2008 season! In a very close second came Chateau Du Damne, in another very close third came the Mangler Asylum, and last but not least, Carnage at Crimson Isle! After I make an Opening Day update, look for another poll to be put up! "Keep checking back for more updates!"

Coaster Craze 08!

After months of waiting, it's finally been announced! Coaster Craze 2008 will be held at Valleyfair on July 25th, 2008. The whole schedule can be found on Valleyfair's site, but it consists of 2 Hours of Morning ERT on Wild Thing and Renegade, a complimentary lunch/buffet (With admission to this event), a Q&A session with Valleyfair executives, a prize drawing, and a day concluding 1 hour ERT session on Excalibur and Renegade! More info can be found in the special events section of Valleyfair's website. I know I'm pumped for this! Definitely one of the best parts of the year!
Maybe Next Year?
Well, last year we were completely spoiled with a picture perfect Renegade Opening Day. Tomorrow, the forcast doesn't look too promising. 90% chance of rain. Oh well, at least we can still have an antique auto's run or six. (Thanks to Ryan for that punch line!) I know either way I'll try my hardest to get out there. Hopefully it'll turn out to be a nicer day then expected. We'll keep all of you updated with pics, news, and trip reports from tomorrow! "Keep Checking Back For More Updates!"

Discounts!

Two discounts are available for the 2008 beginning of the season. Save $10 dollars on a regular admission to Valleyfair by picking up a coupon at your local Subway restaurant. This discount is available until June 22nd, 2008.
The second is a Pepsi discount. Bring in a Pepsi, or a Diet Pepsi can and you also save $10 dollars on a regular admission to Valleyfair. Like the other, this discount is only valid through June 22nd, 2008.
So if you don't have a season pass, or you're bringing a friend to the park, these should come in handy!
A Couple More Things - Big Update!
Well, we're rounding the last turn, and opening day is a little less then 72 hours away! It seems like a ways away, but those are just numbers right? Anyways, I just got home and looked in my mailbox and was delighted to see that I got FunLines. The Valleyfair Newsletter. In the newsletter, there is lots of info! First, there is a large main section on the front page that mentions the last 32 years of operation, the new shows for the 08 season, the new haunt, and the brand new Military Program to honor all the courageous men and women who have served our country. There will be a discount for all Military personnel, and their families. Other things featured in the letter are important dates for 2008, (See last blog post) the season pass holder benefits, processing, and upgrade information, Valleyfair's 2008 Entertainment Line-up, and a group sales ad. On the back, it just mentions the relocated Backyard BBQ. (See one of the earlier blog posts on it)

After checking the special events page recently on Valleyfair's website, I noticed that they had finally put them up for 08. Not all of the events of the year have been posted yet, but it does say check back soon for more updates, so it's safe to assume that Coaster Craze as well as other events will be posted at a later point in time. Here are the ones that are posted.
